B-Meg Llamados whips Powerade Tigers 97-80.
The Scoring Apostle, PJ Simon lead the way for the Llamados on both ends, scoring 21 points and shutting down Garry David and Marcio Lassister.
B-Meg tactician, Coach Tim Cone let his players play in their comfort zone, giving them freedom to create their own situations.
Coach Tim also changed his usual starting line up suiting up Josh Urbiztondo as their starting point guard.
“We decided to kind of shelf our unconventional lineup, which is not having a pure point guard. We
decided to change that today and that got everybody back into their comfort zone,” said Coach Tim Cone.
B-Meg Llamados improved their records to 2-3 while Powerade tigers suffered their second loss in a row dropping to 2-3 win-loss card.
Former MVP, James Yap added 20 points, who anchored the scoring load in the first quarter.
Coach Tim Cone was impressed on how Simon played defense on Gary David and Marcio Lassiter.
“I thought PJ came out and became a committed defender. He did a great job on Gary and also Lassiter
in the first half,” related Cone.
B-Meg lead as much as 29 points, before the Tigers made a rally for themselves. Lassiter and Sean Anthony lead the run for the Tigers and brought the lead within 65-74 with 7:08 remaining on the clock.
But the Llamados answered back with a trey from Urbiztondo and Simon that brought the lead back to 17 points and seal the victory for them.
“We were holding the ball too long, allowing us to get rushed,” said Cone. “Then Josh hit that 3 and
Simon hit his own and that settled us back down. That’s what our second group was supposed to do.”
Top Rookie Pick, JV Casio is still struggling in the game and manages to score five points.
