The Dolphins banked on an explosive fourth quarter run to pull away and thrash the Pandas, 96-83, in the 5th Season of BBC at Atillo Gym in Punta Princesa, Cebu City.
Andrei Kevin Sanchez Cainglet scattered 14 of his team-high 24 points during a blast in the final quarter that turned things around for the Dolphins, which proved to be more than enough cushion as they cruised to their second win in as many games. The Pandas fell short after an impressive opener victory against the Stallions, 85-81.
The Dolphins spoiled yet another hair-raising performance from the veteran-like rookie sensation Pangkoy with 34 points, 22 rebounds, 3 shot blocks and an assist. Pangkoy displayed all-heart throughout the game with his brilliance in both ends on the floor. The Pandas were undermanned after missing the services of Yoyoy Ralloma, Kimjo Christian Osorno, Henderson Go, Jezbu Ace, Darkstar Borden and Dhan Soliva due to prior engagements.
Hot-shooting rookie from the Dolphins RyanJane Abapo chipped in 12 points all from beyond the arc. Anthony Ariel Caruzca and Max Rolf Steinbach came off the bench to add 12 and 10 respectively for Dolphins, which had all of their players contributing at least 2 points each. The dynamic backcourt duo of Gibson Bediña Galan and JJ Baron combined for 36 points. The Pandas failed to distribute the ball as much as they did in their previous outing with only 15 assists. Jon Mansueto added 10 points for Pandas.
With the victory, Dolphins remains unbeaten and they will face the defending champions Team 3 Stallions next Saturday.
