Meralco’s shooting guard veteran, Gary David was dismissed by his team, Meralco Bolts and is now in unrestricted free agent.
This is after the incident that cost him one game suspension, for insubordination and breach of contract. For all those who didn’t know the story, Gary David was called by Norman Black to check in the game with four minutes left, but decided not to. The reason why he didn’t sub in, as ordered by his head coach was not clear by that time. Thus, resulting to one game suspension and fine imposed by the management. However, according to Gary he didn’t check in because he was suffering from an ankle injury, which he event posted a photo.
Now that he is on unrestricted free agent, two teams are the top gunner to get his services, Blackwater Elites, and Mahindra Enforcers. The biggest question now, can Garry David make an impact to any team or even to those two teams in particular?
Maybe his not the Gary David we used to know, the streak shooting guy with gestures as if his hands are on fire, but I think he can still make any impact to any team. This guy is one of the hardest players in the PBA, I watched him grow from a bench player to a superstar. In terms of scoring, he can still shoot the ball, but age and injuries has slowed him down. When I say, he can make an impact; I’m referring to the overall factors he can contribute, even the intangible ones. This is only possible if he will also learn how to accept his role. Gary must accept that he is not the hot shooting guard that he was before, that made him the five time PBA scoring champ. He needs to mentor the young guys and guide them to be better player on and off the court.
Anyway, I’m not taking away anything from Gary. This is just my point of view, much respect and love for this sweet shooting veteran. I hope a team could land him anytime soon.

2. Lack of dedication to the team;
3. Breach of contract which states that he’s obligated to play in official PBA games at all times.
