Rajko Toroman will sign a two-year deal to coach the Barako Bull Energy on Tuesday.
The Serbian coach himself confirmed the news to InterAKTV.
“We’re close to reaching an agreement. I expect things will be finalized tomorrow,” Rajko Toroman told InterAKTV in a telephone interview Monday.
According to Rajko Toroman, he had already agreed in principle with Barako Bull management regarding the setup of the coaching staff as well as terms of the contract, which will be finalized on Tuesday.
“I think Bong Ramos and a few others will be retained in the coaching staff,” added Rajko Toroman. “The deal we agreed is similar to the one I signed with San Miguel group, which is two years.”
Rajko Toroman came to Philippine shores in 2009 to coach the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team, which he led to a fourth-place finish in the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship. He then signed a deal to become a consultant for San Miguel Corporation.
He was appointed to call the shot for the Petron Blaze Boosters earlier this season alongside coach Olsen Racela. But the setup was scrapped several games into the season, leaving Rajko Toroman idle. He parted ways with SMC to pursue coaching opportunities.
Ramos coached Barako Bull on an interim basis in the Philippine Cup following the departure of Junel Baculi midway through the tournament.
Barako Bull forward Sean Anthony confirmed on Twitter that Rajko Toroman conducted practice for the team on Monday.
