Big Chill bounced back from a lackluster first quarter in a big way convincingly defeating Blackwater, 82-62, Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Superchargers came back from a 22-9 deficit in the first quarter by forcing the Elite to only nine points in the second for a 35-31 lead.
Never letting up, Big Chill opened the second half with an 11-1 run to further increase its lead.
Blackwater once again tallied just a single digit in the third period. Big Chill even closed the quarter with an 11-0 run to pose a 57-39 advantage entering the final canto.
“We got ourselves in a big hole in the first quarter and fortunately, we were able to get our game going before the end of the first half,” said Big Chill coach Arsenio Dysangco.
Big Chill will renew acquaintances with top-seed NLEX in the best-of-three semifinals. The Superchargers handed the Road Warriors their only loss this conference, 85-83, last November.
“NLEX will be NLEX. They are a deep team and a completely different team when we won against them,” said Dysangco.
Jessie Collado topscored for Big Chill with 15 points followed by Jewel Ponferrada with 12 markers and 10 boards.
Clarke Bautista and Gio Ciriacruz each had 17 points for Blackwater, which ended the conference losing six of its final eight matches after a 3-0 start.
