San Beda posted a 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23 win over Letran to end its two-game slide in the 87th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament.
Letran skipper Lalaine Villarin’s receiving error proved to be costly for the Lady Knights as the Red Lionesses sealed the win in the fourth.
San Beda’s win created a three-way tie at fifth spot with Letran and Arellano University (3-2 records). The victory also improved the Mendiola-based squad’s chances of earning a second straight semis berth.
“I told them to stay focused in the game and forget our two losses against EAC and Saint Benilde,” said Lionesses coach Ryan Jorge Sucaldito.
San Beda swept Letran after its juniors and men’s squads defeated their respective opponents.
The Red Cubs escaped with a thrilling 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 26-28, 15-13 over the Squires while the Red Lions tripped the Knights, 24-16, 25-21, 25-18, 25-20. — JVP, GMA News
