Talk N Text Tropang Texters and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel will go all out for the last final seat in the last game of their semi finals series.
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters clash in Game Five of their PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals series on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
The deciding match is set at 6:15 p.m. with the winner advancing to the best-of-five championship series against the Alaska Aces.
The Gin Kings forced a knockout match after pulling a 104-101 win in a very physical Game Four on Friday.
“Based on Game Four, I’m expecting a very physical and competitive game. We just want to come out with energy and match their physicality,” said Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters coach Norman Black.
“If we do that we should have a good shot at winning. Balance on offense and controlling (Ginebra import Vernon) Macklin in the paint will be the keys for us.”
Macklin had 37 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Gin Kings to the series-tying win.
Kerby Raymundo, LA Tenorio, Chris Ellis, and Jayjay Helterbrand provided the needed local support for the team of coach Alfrancis Chua, who is eyeing just his second PBA finals stint.
Tony Mitchell remains the marked man for the Tropang Texters as the flamboyant import hit 45 points in Game Four though he was 0-of-8 from the rainbow territory.
“No dirty tricks on him. We just need to contain him,” said Chua, who criticized Talk ‘N Text players Ranidel de Ocampo and Ryan Reyes for giving Macklin some “cheap shots” in Game Four.
“We’re gonna play hard but we’re not gonna hurt like ending one’s career.”
